Day 3 — Lourdes, spring of living water

At the指示 of the Virgin, Bernadette dug in the earth and a spring of crystal-clear water flowed forth. Since then, millions of pilgrims have found in those waters healing of body and soul. The water of Lourdes is a symbol of the grace that flows from the Heart of Christ and the maternal intercession of Mary.

Prayer of the Day

O bright star of holiness, as on that beautiful day upon the rough rock in Lourdes you spoke with Bernadette and a spring burst forth from the earth, hear our prayer and grant us the petition we ask of you. Amen.

Opening Prayer (for all days)

Blessed are you, O Purest Virgin, for having deigned to manifest yourself, radiant with life, sweetness, and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to Saint Bernadette: «I am the Immaculate Conception.» O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of mercy, Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners, Comfort of the afflicted, you know our needs; deign to cast upon us a merciful glance. We come with immense confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for us, O loving Mother, the fulfillment of our petition. Amen.
