Day 5 — The Blood in the Eucharist

Reading

«Drink from it, all of you, for this is my Blood» (Matthew 26:27-28). «The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the Blood of Christ?» (1 Corinthians 10:16). My devotion to the Blood of Christ is centered on the Eucharist. I receive his Blood in Communion, which communicates all its strength and assures me the fruit of salvation.

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, make me eagerly drink your Blood, the New Wine of the Kingdom, pledge of the delights that will intoxicate me in the heavenly homeland. Amen.

Opening Prayer (for all days)

Christ Jesus, Lamb of God, who has saved us by your Blood, we praise you, we bless you, we adore you, and we give you heartfelt thanks. By the merits of your Most Precious Blood, I ask for the salvation of all who have washed themselves in it. Grant me the special grace I desire in this novena, if it be for your greater glory and the good of my soul. Amen.
