Day 6 — Mastery of anger
Meditation
Anger and hardness of heart are a stumbling block to the soul: they blind reason, break charity, and open the door to the enemy. Saint Expeditus answered the devil with firmness, but men with meekness. Self-mastery is the greatest victory and the condition of every true peace.
Prayer of the Day
O glorious martyr Saint Expeditus, by the sufferings and humiliations you endured for love of God, grant me the grace to be freed from anger and hardness of heart, which are a stumbling block to my soul. You who answered the enemy with firmness, help me to master my impulses and to act with meekness. Amen.
(Here make the particular petition.)
Final Prayer (for all days)
O Jesus Christ, protect us today and always, but especially today. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Saint Expeditus, glorious martyr and patron of just and urgent causes, pray for us.
(Three Our Fathers, three Hail Marys, and three Glorias, in honor of the Most Holy Trinity.)
