Day 3 — The humility of Juan Diego

Juan Diego was a humble indigenous man, the smallest and simplest. But God chose what is lowly in the world to confound what is great. The Virgin chose him as her messenger, showing us that God draws near above all to the humble and the simple of heart.

Prayer of the Day

Virgin of Guadalupe, who chose humble Juan Diego, teach me humility and simplicity. May I, like him, be docile to the will of God and a faithful messenger of your love. Amen.

O Immaculate Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the true God and our Mother, you who showed your clemency and compassion to all who come to you, hear the supplications we offer you in this novena. As you imprinted your image on the tilma of Juan Diego, imprint your love on our hearts. Cover us with your maternal mantle and lead us always to your Son Jesus. Amen.
