Day 5 — The thorn of the Passion
Reading
Saint Rita ardently desired to share in the sufferings of Christ. One day, while meditating before a crucifix, a thorn from Christ's crown pierced her forehead, causing a painful wound she bore for fifteen years. This wound was a sign of her union with Christ crucified.
Prayer of the Day
Saint Rita, who shared in the pains of Christ, teach me to unite my sufferings to the Lord's Passion. May my crosses become offerings of love. Amen.
Final Prayer (for all days)
O glorious Saint Rita, who knew how to accept in love the hardest trials of life and who always found in God the strength to go forward, intercede for me before the Lord. You who are the advocate of impossible causes, present my cause before the throne of God and obtain for me the grace I ask, if it be in conformity with the divine will. May your example of faith, patience, and forgiveness inspire me to live as a true Christian. Amen.
(Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria).
