Day 4 — Saint Rita, Augustinian religious

Reading

After being widowed, Rita miraculously entered the Augustinian convent of Cascia, despite being refused three times. God made possible what seemed impossible. In the convent she lived with exemplary holiness, prayer, and penance for forty years.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Rita, exemplary religious, help me to persevere in prayer and in seeking the will of God, even when doors seem to close before me. Amen.

Final Prayer (for all days)

O glorious Saint Rita, who knew how to accept in love the hardest trials of life and who always found in God the strength to go forward, intercede for me before the Lord. You who are the advocate of impossible causes, present my cause before the throne of God and obtain for me the grace I ask, if it be in conformity with the divine will. May your example of faith, patience, and forgiveness inspire me to live as a true Christian. Amen.
