Day 9 — Prince of the heavenly militia

Reading

"Hastening the coming of the Lord..." (Revelation 22:20), the Liturgy concludes with the invocation of Saint Michael as the invincible prince of the angels. Christ Jesus sends his holy angels to gather his elect "from the four winds" (Matthew 24:31). Saint Michael leads the angels in the eternal liturgy, where every knee shall bow before the Lamb.

Prayer of the Day

Glorious Saint Michael the Archangel, invincible prince of the heavenly host, I consecrate to you today my life and my family. Be my guardian and protector each day; and at the end of my pilgrimage, lead me to the eternal banquet of the Lamb. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel (for all days)

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
