Day 8 — Angel of divine justice

Reading

The Liturgy and iconography depict Saint Michael holding the scales, weighing souls on the day of judgment (cf. Daniel 7:10; Revelation 12:10-11). He is the minister of divine justice, applying God's measure with equity, without pride and according to truth.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Michael the Archangel, angel of divine justice, help me to live with the truth always before my eyes. With your scales, lead me to the recognition of my sins and to a sincere conversion. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel (for all days)

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
