Day 7 — Patron of the sick

Reading

In many Church traditions, Saint Michael is invoked by the sick and the dying. Shrines are dedicated to him beside thermal waters (Mount Gargano, Italy, 5th century). His intercession is associated with health of body and of soul, for both together make up the human being redeemed by Christ.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Michael the Archangel, patron of the sick, I entrust to you all who suffer in body or in spirit. Relieve their pain, sustain their hope, and obtain for them health if it is God's will, or else a serene acceptance of the cross. Amen.

Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel (for all days)

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do you, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
