Novena to Saint Expeditus
Day 1 of 9

Day 1 — Faith

Meditation

Saint Expeditus, a Roman commander, on hearing the Lord's call answered without delay: he crushed the raven that cried "Tomorrow!" and exclaimed "Today! I will be a Christian today!" A living faith does not postpone: it hears, it decides, it acts. God asks of us a faith that moves the will and transforms life, not a faith that awaits more convenient circumstances.

Prayer of the Day

O glorious martyr Saint Expeditus, by the living faith God granted you, I ask you to awaken in my heart that same faith, that I may truly believe in God and turn away from every sin. You who heard the Lord's call and answered without delay, intercede for me that I too may respond to God's will with promptness and decision. Amen.

(Here make the particular petition.)

Final Prayer (for all days)

O Jesus Christ, protect us today and always, but especially today. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you. Saint Expeditus, glorious martyr and patron of just and urgent causes, pray for us.

(Three Our Fathers, three Hail Marys, and three Glorias, in honor of the Most Holy Trinity.)
