Day 8 — Apostle of the Church's unity

Reading

Saint Cajetan grieved to see the Church divided into hostile factions. He always prayed for unity, asking laity, priests, and bishops to support the Pope through preaching, prayer, and sacrifices. He saw the Church as the Bride of Christ, the sacrament by which men and women may become holy. He worked for the return of Protestants to the Catholic Church.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Cajetan, apostle of unity, teach us to work for the Church's unity and to defend her from those who attack her. May we support the Pope with prayer and self-giving. Amen.

O glorious Saint Cajetan, you who were a model of virtue among priests and who, trusting in divine Providence, gave the bread of your table to the needy, carry our petitions to Jesus. Obtain for us from the Lord the grace to use temporal goods in such a way that we may not lose the eternal goods of glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
