Day 7 — Spirit of sacrifice
Reading
Saint Cajetan's ceaseless fasting and penance help people understand that God must be loved above all things. He sacrificed anything that could hinder him from loving God with all his soul, mind, heart, and body. By eating little, he showed that man does not live by bread alone. He renewed the faith of many and greatly aided the reform of the Church.
Prayer of the Day
Saint Cajetan, model of penance, infuse in us the spirit of sacrifice. May we too know how to love God intensely, above all things. Amen.
Final Prayer (for all days)
O glorious Saint Cajetan, you who were a model of virtue among priests and who, trusting in divine Providence, gave the bread of your table to the needy, carry our petitions to Jesus. Obtain for us from the Lord the grace to use temporal goods in such a way that we may not lose the eternal goods of glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
(Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria).
