Meditation

Chastity is the virtue that preserves the purity of mind and body needed to cultivate a clean soul, like that of a little child. It is one of Padre Pio's vows on entering religious life, kept faithfully together with poverty and obedience, represented in the three knots of his Capuchin cord. It is also an angelic virtue: hence the Saint directs us to our own Guardian Angel as guide and defense.

Prayer of the Day

O guide and master of so many souls, who during your earthly life always cared to lead souls to God, show us now the way of holiness, helping us to fulfill the will of God! O Lord, in imitation of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, set our hearts on fire with love for You! Amen.

Most beloved Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who bore on your body the stigmata of Our God Jesus Christ; you who also bore the cross for all of us, enduring the physical and moral sufferings that lashed your soul and body in a painful martyrdom: we beg you to intercede with almighty God that each of us may know how to accept the small and great crosses of life, transforming every suffering into a sure bond that binds us to eternal life.
