Novena to Padre Pio
Day 2 of 9

Day 2 — Holiness

Words of Padre Pio

"Take courage and do not fear the wrath of Lucifer. Always remember that it is a good sign when the enemy stirs and roars around you, for this shows that he is not within you."

Meditation

Holiness is a calling for all. Simply by being born children of God, created in his image and likeness, we receive the loving invitation to imitate him. "It is impossible for God to inspire unrealizable desires," Saint Therese said: from our littleness we can be holy if we desire it ardently and work enough for it. Padre Pio answered this call with his full "yes" and invites us to answer as he did.

Prayer of the Day

O most humble son of the Poor Man of Assisi, whom the Lord made rich with so many gifts and who never considered yourself above others, teach us also to live in humility, that one day we may be exalted in the Most Holy Trinity! O Lord, in imitation of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, set our hearts on fire with love for You! Amen.

Prayer to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (for all days)

Most beloved Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who bore on your body the stigmata of Our God Jesus Christ; you who also bore the cross for all of us, enduring the physical and moral sufferings that lashed your soul and body in a painful martyrdom: we beg you to intercede with almighty God that each of us may know how to accept the small and great crosses of life, transforming every suffering into a sure bond that binds us to eternal life.

(Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria.)
