Day 5 — The Gift of Knowledge
Antiphon
O immortal Light! O divine Light! Visit these hearts of yours and fill our inmost being!
Meditation on the Gift of Knowledge
The gift of Knowledge allows the soul to give created things their true value in relation to God. Knowledge unmasks the pretense of creatures, reveals their emptiness, and notes their true purpose as instruments in the service of God. It shows us God's loving care even in adversity, and leads us to glorify him in every circumstance of life. Guided by his light, we give priority to what should have it and prize God's friendship above all. "Knowledge is a fountain of life to him who possesses it" (Prov 16:22).
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, O blessed Spirit of Knowledge, and grant that I may perceive the will of the Father; show me the nothingness of earthly things, that I may grasp their vanity and use them only for your glory and my own salvation, ever looking beyond them to you and your eternal rewards. Amen.
Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit (for all days)
Receive, O Holy Spirit, the absolute consecration of all my being, which I make to You this day, that You may henceforth be, in every instant of my life, in each of my actions, my Director, my Light, my Guide, my Strength, and all the love of my Heart.
I abandon myself without reserve to your divine operations, and I desire ever to be docile to your holy inspirations.
O Holy Spirit! Deign to form me with Mary and in Mary, after the model of your beloved Jesus.
Glory to the Father Creator. Glory to the Son Redeemer. Glory to the Holy Spirit the Sanctifier. Amen.
(Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria).
