Day 1 — Chosen from Eternity

By the sign of the Holy Cross, from our enemies deliver us, Lord our God. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer for All Days

O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, we beseech you that, as you preserved her from every stain in foresight of the death of your Son, you would also grant us, through her intercession, to attain the purity that leads us into your presence. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Day

Hail, Mary, Daughter of God the Father: Virgin conceived without stain, we give you thanks for having chosen us to be your children on earth. May we, through your intercession, obtain the forgiveness of our sins and the grace of a pure life.

Biblical Reading

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens. He chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love" (Ephesians 1:3-4).

Meditation

As God chose Mary before creation to be the Mother of his Son, and preserved her from every stain of sin, he has also chosen us to be holy and blameless in his presence. Mary's purity encourages us to seek holiness in our daily life.

O Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, by the singular grace of your Immaculate Conception, obtain for us the grace to imitate your purity and your fidelity to God. May we, like you, always know how to say "yes" to the will of the Father. Amen.
