Novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel
Day 1 of 9

Day 1 — Fruits of virtues and good works

Meditation

Our Lady of Carmel was prefigured in the little cloud that the prophet Elijah saw rising from the sea (1 Kings 18:44). That cloud watered the earth with its rain, signifying the pure fecundity with which Mary gave Jesus to the world, the universal remedy for our souls. She intercedes so that our soul may bear abundant fruits of virtue.

Prayer of the Day

O Virgin of Carmel, Most Holy Mary! I beg you, Lady, to obtain for me abundant rains of help so that my soul may bear abundant fruits of virtues and good works, serving you with perfection in this life and deserving to rejoice in the eternal one. Amen.

*(Pray the Salve Regina).*Final Prayer (for all days)

Most Holy Virgin of Carmel, I desire that all may take shelter under the protecting shadow of your holy Scapular. O beauty of Carmel! Look upon us kneeling before your sacred image and grant us your loving protection. I commend to you the needs of the Pope, the Church, my nation, and the whole world. Look with compassion upon sinners, heretics, and unbelievers. May all be converted and love you, my Mother, as I wish to love you now and for all eternity. Amen.
