Day 6 — Lourdes, place of prayer

Meditation

In Lourdes, prayer is constant. The rosary, the torchlight procession, the stations of the cross, eucharistic adoration. Mary taught Bernadette to pray the rosary. Lourdes is a school of prayer where we learn to speak with God and with our heavenly Mother.

Prayer of the Day

O glorious Mother of God, so powerful under the title of Our Lady of Lourdes, to you we lift up our hearts to implore your powerful intercession and obtain from the benign Heart of Jesus all the graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal well-being. Amen.

Opening Prayer (for all days)

Blessed are you, O Purest Virgin, for having deigned to manifest yourself, radiant with life, sweetness, and beauty, in the Grotto of Lourdes, saying to Saint Bernadette: «I am the Immaculate Conception.» O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of mercy, Health of the sick, Refuge of sinners, Comfort of the afflicted, you know our needs; deign to cast upon us a merciful glance. We come with immense confidence to implore your maternal intercession. Obtain for us, O loving Mother, the fulfillment of our petition. Amen.
