Day 8 — Saint Joseph, patron of the Church

Reading

Pope Pius IX declared Saint Joseph patron of the universal Church in 1870. As he protected the Holy Family, so today he protects the Church from her enemies and guides her by his intercession. In times of trial for the Church, recourse to Saint Joseph is a source of strength and hope.

Prayer of the Day

Saint Joseph, patron of the Church, protect the Pope, the bishops, priests, and all the faithful. Defend the Church from her enemies and lead her along paths of holiness and truth. Amen.

Glorious patriarch Saint Joseph, whose power reaches what is impossible to men, come to my aid in these moments of anguish and difficulty. Take under your protection the grave and difficult situations I entrust to you, that they may have a happy solution. My beloved Father, all my confidence is placed in you. Let it never be said that I have invoked you in vain. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
