Day 1 — Saint Cajetan, shepherd of souls

Saint Cajetan studied to be a lawyer, but upon feeling the Lord's call he left everything and became a priest. He excelled in virtue, refusing any material reward for his work. He taught people to pray the rosary and to cultivate devotion to the saints. He was truly a spiritual shepherd, whose concern was always the salvation of souls.

Prayer of the Day

Glorious Saint Cajetan, who taught the faithful to pray and to seek the salvation of their souls, show us the way of true holiness. Carry our petitions to Jesus. Amen.

O glorious Saint Cajetan, you who were a model of virtue among priests and who, trusting in divine Providence, gave the bread of your table to the needy, carry our petitions to Jesus. Obtain for us from the Lord the grace to use temporal goods in such a way that we may not lose the eternal goods of glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
