Novena to Padre Pio
Day 6 of 9

Day 6 — Obedience

Words of Padre Pio

"If I know that a person is afflicted, whether in soul or body, I would beg God to see her freed from her ills. Gladly would I take all her sufferings to see her saved."

Meditation

Through obedience one does what superiors ask without questioning motives. "He who obeys is not mistaken," they say in religious life. So Padre Pio acted all his life, even when the orders were unjust, such as suspending him or forbidding him to hear confessions and celebrate Mass publicly. He said: "It is through complete and blind submission that you will feel guided amid the shadows and struggles of life. 'The obedient man shall sing victory', Scripture says. All this forms the yoke of love."

Prayer of the Day

O great apostle of the confessional and deep searcher of the heart, who snatched so many souls from the hands of Satan, lead us back to the font of pardon and grace! O Lord, in imitation of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, set our hearts on fire with love for You! Amen.

Prayer to Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (for all days)

Most beloved Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who bore on your body the stigmata of Our God Jesus Christ; you who also bore the cross for all of us, enduring the physical and moral sufferings that lashed your soul and body in a painful martyrdom: we beg you to intercede with almighty God that each of us may know how to accept the small and great crosses of life, transforming every suffering into a sure bond that binds us to eternal life.

(Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria.)
