Day 2 — The purity of the Immaculate Heart

Meditation

"Immaculate" means "without stain." Mary's Heart was preserved from sin from the first instant of her Conception, by Christ's anticipated merits, that she might be a worthy Mother of God. No assault of the enemy could stain that Heart, neither in childhood nor on Calvary. Mary's purity is not absence of weight, but total, undivided surrender to the Father's will. To turn to her Immaculate Heart is to learn to surrender as she did, without reserve.

Prayer of the Day

Immaculate Heart of Mary, preserved from every stain to be a worthy Mother of the Savior, grant me the gift of purity of intention and of life, and obtain the conversion of sinners who today pray through your Heart. Amen.

Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (for all days)

O Mary, worthy Mother of God and tender Mother of ours, who appearing at Fatima have shown us in your Heart a most sure refuge and in your Rosary a victorious weapon against the enemy of our souls, grant that loving you with filial love I may here find and enjoy the life of grace, and afterward the life of glory. O sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.
