Day 1 — The Gift of Wisdom

Antiphon

O Holy Spirit! O Lord of Light! Give us, from your clear heavenly height, your pure radiant splendor!

Meditation on the Gift of Wisdom

Embracing all the other gifts, as charity embraces all the other virtues, Wisdom is the most perfect of the gifts. Of Wisdom it is written: "all good things came to me along with her, and countless riches at her hands" (Wisdom 7:11). The gift of Wisdom strengthens our faith, fortifies hope, perfects charity, and promotes the practice of virtue in the highest degree. Wisdom illumines the mind to discern and prize the things of God, before which earthly joys lose their savor, while the Cross of Christ yields a divine sweetness, according to the words of the Savior: "Take up your cross and follow me, for my yoke is sweet and my burden light" (Mt 11:29-30).

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come, O Spirit of Wisdom, and reveal to my soul the mysteries of heavenly things, their greatness, power, and beauty. Teach me to love them above all and beyond every passing joy and earthly satisfaction. Help me to obtain and possess them forever. Amen.

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit (for all days)

Receive, O Holy Spirit, the absolute consecration of all my being, which I make to You this day, that You may henceforth be, in every instant of my life, in each of my actions, my Director, my Light, my Guide, my Strength, and all the love of my Heart.

I abandon myself without reserve to your divine operations, and I desire ever to be docile to your holy inspirations.

O Holy Spirit! Deign to form me with Mary and in Mary, after the model of your beloved Jesus.

Glory to the Father Creator. Glory to the Son Redeemer. Glory to the Holy Spirit the Sanctifier. Amen.
