Day 9 — The Immaculate Conception, Our Hope

By the sign of the Holy Cross, from our enemies deliver us, Lord our God. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O God, who by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin prepared a worthy dwelling for your Son, we beseech you that, as you preserved her from every stain in foresight of the death of your Son, you would also grant us, through her intercession, to attain the purity that leads us into your presence. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Day

Hail, Mary, Morning Star, Gate of heaven: you who have been taken up into heaven in body and soul, obtain for us by your intercession the grace of a holy death and the hope of attaining eternal glory.

Biblical Reading

"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars" (Revelation 12:1).

Meditation

The Immaculate Conception is the pledge of our own hope. As Mary was preserved from sin and raised to glory, so we too hope, by the grace of God, to attain eternal life. May her example encourage us to live in purity and fidelity, awaiting the final victory.
